BRITISH INDOOR WINTER SERIES REPORT: ADAM HOWE-TOP PHOTON TEAM DRIVER

Round 3 of Britains Fastest Winter Series was held on the 10th of january and saw a attendence of 70+ drivers amongst the 5 classes this time F1 and minis would have there own class to add to the days racing. There were some fast drivers too, James Hart, Stefan Chodzynski, Luke Hobson, Paul Boult, Charlie Ware and Chris Bosomworth to name a few. It was good to see a high number of drivers racing to say that there was heavy snow and freezing conditions all week. There was only myself representing Top Photon at Muchmore racing this time Matt Dunning was unable to make it.

Practice:
Consisted of 5 minute timed runs so drivers could get some track time and a little time for working on set ups. With the low tempretures the track wasnt providing much grip at first but it wasnt long before the grip came back up. I made a couple of changes to the car using softer springs and softer standard top deck to generate that little bit more grip letting the tyres scrub up a little.

Qualifying:
Round one was a complete disaster for me with a body clip coming loose on the front of the car so I pulled the car off to save tyre wear and prevent damaging the car further. But the car felt really good the first few laps so i left the set up the same. Round two went lots better and i had a really fast clear run having a good race with Hot Bodies team driver and ace Stefan Chodzyski who just beat me by a couple of seconds to first in my heat although i had a very fast time putting me 5th overall with one run left. Round three the grip had come up really well now i decided to stiffen my car and alter the camber on the car in the hope of staying in the top ten. I blitzed my FTQ by one whole lap this round with the changes having a big effect. I ended up qualifying 8th overall and the only TOP PHOTON in the A Final.

Finals:
I had managed 8th in the A final so the pressure was on, the first leg i got a really good start and was up to fifth chasing Chris Bosomworth in fourth untill i was tagged by a car behind that knocked me down to 8th to where i finished in the first leg. I was quite disappointed by the result to say i was on for 5th place. For the second leg i upped my pinion and punch on my speed controller to really push the car. In leg two my car got a really good start passing two cars off the start untill one of these tagged me from behind i managed to get back up to 8th from the back and had a good race with Charlie Ware. Overall in managed 7th getting a good haul of points for the series. Overall- I was very pleased with the car it was very easy to drive , i made a few changes throughout the day to adapt to the changing situations. For the next round i will be testing the new lipo chasis so i will let you know how i get on.
