Just weeks after securing the Carpet Wars Championship title and the Rug Racers title Muchmore Team driver Olly Jefferies added the prestigious Carpet Wars Two Day World Cup title to his haul of winter titles. The Carpet Wars World Cup is with out doubt the biggest indoor meeting of the winter and attracts a large number of top UK drivers, this year Germanys Marc Fisher joined the UK drivers, four rounds of qualifying on Saturday, one on Sunday morning and then three leg finals is the format of this meeting and from the off Olly set the pace with his Hot Bodies Cyclone. Fastest in round one and two Olly then lost the lead in qualifying in round three to Elliott Harper, then X-ray driver Kevin Brunsden took over at the top to hold the over night lead. Olly put in a superb clean quick run on a cold track on Sunday morning and against the odds stole FTD from Kevin, keen to control the finals from the front FTD was important to Olly but leg one was not kind to him and he could only manage third. Second leg of the A final and Olly led from start to finish but with Elliot Harper coming home second it was still all to play for in the last leg with Olly, Glen Doman and Elliott all in with a chance of winning. Olly needed a clean quick run in leg three and that’s what he got, with Kevin Brunsden letting his X-Ray team mate through early on Olly could not afford a mistake, he kept the gap between himself and Elliot static for the whole race and was delighted to cross the line and take the win and the title. The win meant a lot to Olly, after finishing second last year and dominating UK carpet racing this winter the meeting was the icing on the cake......Well done from all at Muchmore UK |
