report by HB and Much-More UK driver, Stew Noble: With no 5 cell mod class, I decided to use this meeting to test some of the latest trends in 19t in preparation for the Much-More UK GP on June 8th-10th.
The 19t and 4cell brushless racers were mixed in the same heats as usual at Bedworth, with the 4cell cars having a clear advantage just about everywhere on the track, consistency was ever more important.
During qualifying I tested various different motor setups to try and get good pace from 19t, I qualified 2nd being just beaten by a 4cell car.
I decided to test a newer style motor to the one I’d been running earlier in the first final, it packed major horsepower over what I’d been running earlier and I was easily able to win the final.
I stuck on the same motor for the second final but made a little change to the spring tension to gain more RPM and tried a rear wing with lower drag than I’d been running earlier, this helped narrow the gap to the 4cell cars but they still had much more pace on the straightaway, despite this I was able again to convincingly win the 2nd final, taking the overall win for the meeting. Still a few more things to try out before the MMGP so after the next BRCA national I’ve decided to
specially make time for more 19t testing prior to the Muchmore race. |
