The 12th running of the K O Grand Prix took place over the bank holiday weekend and saw victory in Modified for Muchmore team Driver Olly Jefferies; the meeting was a great success for Muchmore modified drivers who took the top four places in qualifying and the three leg finals. Olly got the weekend off to a flying start setting FTD in round one of qualifying, he stayed top of the time sheets for the whole of qualifying to take a well deserved pole position for the A final. Lining up behind Olly was his Hot Bodies team mate Andy Moore with Ben Cosgrove third for X-ray and Chris Grainger next up with his Yokomo. Olly took leg one of the A final making the most of his last set of new tyres, leg two saw Ben take the win and left it all to play for in the final leg. The top three left the grid with it all to play for; any one of them could have taken the title at this point. Ben dropped off the leading two after clipping a kerb and dropping down the order, this left Olly up front from Andy Moore. Andy made a move and got by Olly, these two pulled away from the chasing pack, Olly kept Andy on his toes from the remainder of the race but he knew second would be enough to take the title.

The final results showed four Muchmore drivers at the front of the modified field, newly crowned national champion Chris Grainger fourth, Ben Cosgrove was an excellent third for X-ray and Andy Moore second, for Olly this victory is notable milestone, in 2002 as a young up and coming driver he dominated the 27 turn stock class of the KO Grand Prix taking FTD and winning the A final, it may have taken a while but he has no become the first driver to win both 27 turn stock and modified KO titles.
Many thanks to all Muchmore drivers who took part in this event. |
